Medical Laboratory Science Poem

This post is dedicated to Fabu Valencia Gutierrez.

I'm just one biconcave disc, rolling through the capillaries of time,
Gathering knowledge from any source that will give it up,
And delivering it to those struggling to produce the patient result,
In a timely and accurate fashion.
It's not an easy task, and not one I take lightly,
But it is a challenge filled with bad valves, software glitches and pinched tubing,
Syringe limits, reagent changes and failed pumps,
Temperature and humidity fluctuations, and loss of power...
Both mechanical and personal, on a day-to-day basis.
I roll on, avoiding hemolysis of pride, clotting of processes and lipemic clouds of confusion,
To keep up with the pulse pushing me ever forward,
Within the healthcare system.
